I am writing concerning the island nation of Haiti. I’m certain you’ve seen the pictures of the devastation and anguish the peoples of Haiti are facing at this hour. I cannot imagine the degree of inconsolable suffering these people are now burdened with; still, my prayers and my heart go out to the peoples of Haiti and their families.
I ask that you do all that you can to help Haiti receive the proper supplies, aid, and funding it so desperately needs to assist the country and people in the arduous weeks, months, and years ahead. Haiti is one of the poorest countries in our nation’s hemisphere and is located in our great nation’s backyard. With that said, I believe it is our responsibility, if not then, our duty to make certain that Haiti emerges out of this very difficult and tumultuous period a much better and much stronger nation.
Senetor/Representativ (NAME) I know you are being faced with very difficult decisions. As our country experiences some of the toughest economic times in our nation’s history; however, I implore you to find the necessary resources and funding Haiti needs. The recovery process will be a long and difficult one, and I believe it is our obligation to make certain that we are there providing assistance and support every step of the way. In the days, weeks, and months ahead, our great nations has to be at the forefront of this catastrophe, leading the world, as it so often does, in the aid and recovery efforts.
